In Roam you can use product categories to organise product entries (operator and event listings) into themed categories.
Your category mapping will be set up in the Roam onboarding process, though sometimes strategy changes, and you might want to update or add categories accordingly.
To access product categories for operator, events, and accommodation, click Categories in the main navigation and make sure you have the Product Categories tab open.
Important Note: any changes to the structure of your categories, such as moving a category to be a subcategory or changing the title will result in an immediate update of all product listings. If changing the title of a category this will also change the URL structure. As a result, you might need to check your hyperlinks to search across your site.
Edit an existing category
To edit a category click the title to open and make changes. Don't forget to save!
Add a new category
To create a new category:
- Click the + New category button in the top right corner and add a title.
- If your website does not integrate with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) then save your category and you're ready to start assigning the category to product entires.
If you do have an integration with ATDW then follow the below next steps. - Map to an ATDW category.
In the example below, we've created a new category and titled in "Holiday Homes." Now it's time to associate your new category with categories from ATDW, this way Roam will automatically "map" ATDW's categories to the category you've created.
To map your new category to ATDW categories, click +Add a category within the category entry you have created. Here you'll see a list of all the ATDW categories. Scroll or search for the categories you'd like to add. You can select multiple!
- Click save and your new category is created! Any new ATDW listings will automatically map to these new categories.
- An important last step!
Now that you have created your new category, you need to update your product entries to match the new category.
If you have a handful of entries, the quickest way would be to update your listings manually by going into your related entries and changing the category.
If there are many listings needing to be re-assigned please contact support@roamhq.io and we can arrange a bulk re-import for you.
